Player Profile: #29 Fabio Pereira

Out of Brazil by way of Michigan, the central midfielder did not end the season with Sounders FC.

Mike Russell

The first of the community ranked players with competitive minutes. Fabio Veras Villas Boas Pereira put in 27 minutes in Open Cup play while also appearing on the bench once in league action. Seattle Sounders FC released the Wolverine on July 23rd and still hold his rights.

Offense:

Pereira played well enough in tight spaces. He did not make decisive passes and was more like a metronome in his action. He's capable as a box-to-box or defensive mid in the attack. Needs to enter danger zone more often. Does not search out threatening spaces. Offers little in service on set-pieces and is not a threat to score as a target.

Defense:

Late in his time with Sounders FC Fabio started sitting back defensively more often. He protects the goal by filling spaces, not as a ball winner via tackle or interception. Could be better at getting body on runners. Defending dead balls lacks the air skills to be key member.

Physique:

Slight and average speed for MLS play. Tends to avoid contact.

Best Case 2015:

Could be Sounders 2's version of Pineda, if he makes that squad. Currently available on a free, with Sounders holding his MLS rights.
