DeAndre Yedlin's rise to prominence in the American soccer could not happen more quickly. He powered a great run with Seattle Sounders, became a key player for the United States and will transfer to Tottenham soon. Today, US Soccer announced that he is the best Young Male Athlete in the American system.

"It's an absolute honor to win this award," said Yedlin via USSF. "I would like to thank my teammates, my family, and most of all the fans for the amazing support for our team. It was a tremendous year for a lot of young players, and we all share the dream of continuing to have the opportunity to represent our country."

Only seven players with the US National Team made 10 or more appearances with the National Team, that one of those started the year under the age of 21. Yedlin's influence with the Sounders is also strong. His development as a defender is stunning; his influence in the attack is undeniable.

Yedlin is also up for the Sounder at Heart community award for best young Sounder, an award he won in 2013.
