2014 Season Preview Plan

New, 46 comments

With under two weeks before First Kick against Sporting KC the time has come to look at some of the issues that will face Seattle Sounders FC as they attempt to win a major trophy after two years without one.

This is a big year for Seattle Sounders FC. The retention of Sigi Schmid lead to the largest roster churn yet (and with top level talents), but the expectations are not lower. The goal in Seattle is simple - at least one major trophy they have not yet won. The minimum standard is simple as well, they must make the MLS Cup Playoffs again.

Over the next few days the preseason themed content is going to come fast and hard. Sounder at Heart is not going to ignore breaking news, the preseason games or our regular features, but the goal is to prepare our loyal readers for this season more than any season yet.

Here's how we'll do that;

  • Awards Predictions
  • Standings/Trophies Predictions
  • Final Depth Chart
  • Tactics of 2014
  • Western Conference Comparison
  • Probably other stuff too...
This year is the 40th anniversary. To cap that celebration off with a trophy will be more difficult than ever, but as fans you should be prepared enough to have realistic expectations for what Seattle can and can not do.
