The Seattle Sounders continued their strong start to the preseason, storming out to an early 2-0 lead and holding on for a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday in Tucson, Ariz. The Sounders got goals from a pair of players hoping to make the roster, with fourth-round draft pick Fabio Pereira opening the scoring in the 8th minute and trialist Kevin Parsemain grabbing the other in the 17th minute.

Details of the game are a bit thin, as there was no livestream, but Chad Barrett apparently got the assist on the first goal after redirecting a deflected Parsemain pass and Dylan Remick set up the second. Remick did most of the work on the second goal, winning a ball at midfield, charging down the sideline and delivering the pass to Parsemain at the top of the penalty area.

The Sounders nearly had a third goal, but trialist Dzenan Catic's header off an Aaron Kovar free kick in the second half hit off the crossbar.

This was the Sounders' second preseason match in as many days, and as such featured a dramatically different lineup. Remick and Rose were the only players to start both matches. David Estrada, Damion Lowe, Aaron Kovar, Kenny Cooper and Eriq Zavaleta also played a half in each game. Rose actually played both halves of Thursday's match.

While Wednesday's match was about as close to a first-team lineup as the Sounders are currently capable of fielding, Thursday's was more heavily reserve laden. Marcus Hahnemann was the only player to start against the Whitecaps who seems to be in contention for a starting spot.

The Whitecaps, however, used a lineup that featured several players that are expected to start.
