Don Ruiz of the News Tribune was down in Charleston for most of the Carolina Challenge Cup and chatted with Sigi Schmid about how the lineup today against D.C. United would compare to the First Kick starting lineup. Expect it to be close. Today's early game saw a lineup mainly with trialists and depth players.
LINEUP: Hahnemann; Gonzalez, Lowe, Traore, Azira; Bowen, Pereira, Pineda, Okoli; Barrett, Parsemain.— Sounders Matchday (@LIVESounders) March 1, 2014
That was corrected to reflect that Weaver actually started. Parsemain, Kovar and Estrada all came in as subs. The first two scored in the second half and pushed Seattle to a win.
Dempsey went 90 today for Fulham. Sigi told Softy on KJR that how much Clint goes against Ukraine will determine his ability to start or length of minutes available.
So barring Clint not playing in Cyprus and no further injuries First Kick's First XI is probably
One of Seattle's goals was to get more athletic in 2014. There is no doubt that such a lineup is more athletic than the one that ended 2013. Now Gonzalez could regain health and start, as could Traore who missed some time with an injury. Clint could start and it would be a much more attacking shape. But for pure athleticism a lineup with Remick, Yedlin, Anibaba and Martins has it.
