Aaron Kovar and Kevin Parsemain each scored goals as a reserve-laden Seattle Sounders scored a comeback victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday morning. The match went just 60 minutes and was a late addition to the schedule, designed to get a final look at players before the preseason finale against D.C. United later in the day. The only official account of the game was through the Sounders' matchday Twitter feed.
The Sounders started a lineup of Marcus Hahnemann; Leo Gonzalez, Damion Lowe, Djimi Traore, Michael Azira; Tristan Bowen, Fabio Pereira, Gonzalo Pineda, Sean Okoli; Chad Barrett, Cam Weaver. Kovar and Parsemain both entered the match as substitutes. David Estrada also replaced Pineda and played right back.
Coastal Carolina was able to take the initial lead just before the halftime whistle, with Estrada apparently getting beat on the play.
Parsemain was able to get the equalizer in the 33rd minute, bending in a free kick from about 33 yards out. Kovar then gave the Sounders the lead in the 58th minute, cutting in from the right and finding the back of the goal. Kovar and Parsemain nearly connected for a third goal, but the Martinique international couldn't keep his shot on frame.
The Sounders will close out their preseason with a Carolina Challenge Cup match against D.C. United at 2 p.m.
