MLS Gamethread: Week 4

Can Vancouver survive the Dynamo bulldozer?

Mattocks can fly
Mattocks can fly

Every action you take has a consequence. Tearing a butterfly's wings can cause a storm in China. Merging too quickly on the freeway could cause George R.R. Martin to kill off everyone in the final Game of Thrones book. Such as it is, the actions of a few many Sounders fans has caused a chain reaction which has led to no Free Stream of the Week for our MLS Gamethread. Because of your selfishness, no one will be able to see Chivas take on New York on Sunday! What's that? You're saying that the game is on UniMas? EXACTLY.

Game of the Week

There are two matches this weekend with a lot of scoring potential. One is FC Dallas vs Portland, provided the Timbers get their attack going. The other features two teams tied for second in goals at this early point in the season. Vancouver and Houston have scored five a piece, but both teams dropped four on their opponents in the opening week. Which is more indicative of each team's overall scoring ability: Four-Nil blastings, or 1-1 draws? Pedro Morales didn't play in Vancouver's road match, so whether he plays against Houston could make a big difference.
I really believe that Vancouver's squad this year is good enough to make a run at some silverware. With so many attacking options and a solid defense, Vancouver is capable of beating anyone. However, Brad Davis is in some pretty fine form, and the Whitecaps still likely need some time before they reach their full potential. The pick has been alternating from one to the other all morning, and by the time the match starts it may change again. For now though...

Prediction: HOU
