Ukraine is one of the best teams to not make the 2014 World Cup. Barely missing out on the world's largest soccer tourney due to the UEFA playoff structure they were once a great opponent for Jurgen's United States squad. It would be a tough test on the road for the European based players with a chance to make the American twenty-three.
Then non-soccer things happened in Ukraine. The match was moved to Cyprus. It was canceled. It was uncanceled. It probably should have remained canceled. It's just a friendly.
But it's the friendly we have. There are two soccer things that are going to be of strong interest to Seattle Sounders FC fans. Clint Dempsey is on TV again. The Sounder midfielder is the captain. He is unlikely to lose his starting role, but seeing him play well will put some worries (both for performance in Brazil and in MLS) at ease. Sigi said Tuesday that he only needs to see one thing - "no injuries." Many fans will also key in on Geoff Cameron. He is the one most likely to unseat Brad Evans as the presumptive right back at the World Cup.
