Another come from behind result on the road, starring Clint Dempsey means that he's the MLS Player of the Week for the second week in a row, in a unanimous vote. Soccer By Ives and Sports Illustrated also named him their MLS player of the week again.

Dempsey is also nominated for MLS Goal of the Week for his free kick in the first half against FC Dallas. His long-range volley that forced an impressive save by Chris Seitz earned the FC Dallas goalkeeper a nomination for Save of the Week.

As if that wasn't enough, Dempsey is the subject of a short film directed by Mad Men's Jon Hamm.

Two Sounders Academy teams were in action yesterday. The U15's beat Mexican side Necaxa 2-0 in the first match of the Dallas Cup. They face Pateadores San Diego today at 12:00 PM PDT and Andromeda FC tomorrow at 4:00 PM PDT.

The U16's faced the New York Red Bulls in the opening match of the Generation Adidas Cup. After playing to a 1-1 draw, the teams went to a penalty shoot-out to determine the bonus point, with New York winning 4-3. Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and MLS are ready to make a "major announcement" in Atlanta tomorrow at 2:00 PM PDT. We all know that means Atlanta will be announced as the league's 23rd team.

One of the pleasantly surprising stories early in the 2014 season has been the improved ratings of MLS matches on NBCSN. As expected, that trend continued when the Sounders visited the Timbers 10 days ago. Not only did the match pull a 0.2 rating and 277,000 viewers, but it also beat 2 of the 4 live Premier League broadcasts and 6 of the 9 live NHL broadcasts on the network for the first week of April.

Chivas USA midfielder Thomas McNamara may be out of action for a while, after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's draw in Portland. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera isn't optimistic that McNamara will return in the near future.

This week's MLS Stream of the Week options don't include Seattle, but that also means that the match that wins the vote won't be blacked out in the Seattle area this week.

The NASL and ESPN have reached an agreement for the network to stream one NASL match each week throughout the 2014 season.

Minnesota United FC has signed a shirt sponsor for the second time this year. This time, the sponsorship is for the back of the jersey.

The NASL app is out now and is available on iOS and Android.

Despite losing 4-0, Eric Wynalda isn't all that impressed with the New York Cosmos.

Abby Wambach was forced to miss the season opener for the Western New York Flash due to a fractured orbital bone below her left eye. The injury occurred during the friendly against China last Thursday.

Plans to move the Orlando City USL Pro team to Louisville are nearing a conclusion, as the city and the Louisville Bats minor league baseball team reached an agreement that would allow the USL Pro team to play at Louisville Slugger Field.

US Soccer

In an appearance on NBCSN's SportsDash, Alex Morgan talked about the USWNT coaching change.

Megan Rapinoe thinks the new USWNT manager needs to be a "big personality" in order to handle the big personalities on the USWNT roster.

World Cup

ESPN has brought on BT Sport's Lynsey Hipgrave to co-host ESPN coverage of the 2014 World Cup, along with Bob Ley and Mike Tirico.

Vice President Joe Biden will attend the World Cup in Brazil this year.

Since Manchester City won the Capital One Cup, there are currently two spots in 2014/15 Europa League up for grabs in the Premier League table. Tottenham and Manchester United are currently engaged in a tight battle for that last spot. If Manchester United beats out Tottenham for 6th place in the Premier League, Spurs fans will be in the awkward position of needing Arsenal to win a trophy to ensure continental competition for Tottenham.

Man City's hopes of winning the Premier League took a big hit in its 3-2 loss to Liverpool over the weekend, but they took a bigger hit when it was revealed that Yaya Touré could miss the remainder of the season with a groin injury.

Reports in Spain seem to indicate that Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino believes he's losing control of the team and plans to step down after the 2013/14 season. Jürgen Klopp is being mentioned as his most likely replacement.

Carles Puyol responded that the players support Martino. Puyol also said that he would be willing to stay at Barça for another season to help soften the blow of the one year transfer ban.

Just about the only thing that could salvage the season for Barcelona would be a win over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey Final.

FIFPro is preparing to challenge the current transfer system in court, targeting agent fees and third-party ownership.

Barcelona's Munir El Haddadi put the exclamation point on Barcelona's 3-0 win in the UEFA Youth League Final, with an amazing goal from just inside his own half of the field.

Last week in Iran's second division, a substitute goalkeeper illegally ran onto the pitch to make a goal-line save. Although he was sent off, his decision paid off, as the ensuing indirect free kick was blocked and his team went on to win 2-0.
