Chivas USA vs. Sounders: Second-half gamethread

Chivas surge ahead on a penalty, but Sounders capitalize on Dan Kennedy error to pull even.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Sounders fell behind again, the fourth straight time they've managed to do that. For the third straight game, they also came back to equalize. They will head into the second half seeing if they can win for the second time in a row.

The match got off to a rough start when Osvaldo Alonso was whistled for a penalty on a tackle at the very edge of the area. Alonso actually won the ball and, although it appeared he did get the Chivas USA player with his trailing leg, it looked to be outside the penalty area. No matter, Erick Torres converted the penalty.

In what we'll just call karma, the Sounders equalized when Dan Kennedy essentially gifted them a goal. The normally reliable goalkeeper failed to grab a relatively easy cross, Clint Dempsey alertly hit the ball toward the goal and Lamar Neagle was able to put the open shot away.
