The Atlanta Silverbacks announced today that David Estrada is arriving on loan from Seattle Sounders FC. The multi-dimensional player will join the team that is probably most well-known for its Technical Director and Coach - Eric Wynalda. Estrada is already in Atlanta per the NASL club's release.
The current Atlanta squad has a few names familiar to Sounders fans. Blair Gavin is the one that sticks out most as a former Sounder, but there are also a smattering of Cal FC players from their storied Open Cup run. They only have two forwards so Estrada seems likely to play up top for the NASL team.
Once drafted 11th overall Estrada is now in his fifth professional season. In 2013 he totaled 588 all competitions minutes with 5 starts and 13 sub appearances. He scored no goals. David is one of four MLS Sounders to score a hat trick and the third to do so. In all competitions all-time MLS era he is fifth among active goal scorers, which is really more a sign of the amount of roster change.
Atlanta's first NASL match of 2014 is April 13th against the New York Cosmos (who have Sounder loanee Jimmy Ockford).
