Another game, another opportunity to earn 3 marvelous points. Can the Sounders avoid another downward spiral after a rough loss? Let's take a look at our chances in Saturday's matchup against the San Jose Earthquakes.
First, a Few Changes
There are two additions to the graphic. First, players with an X are out of the game due to a red card, World Cup training, or an injury. Second, there is a new category focused on team possession statistics -- highlighting passes, pass accuracy, and tackles and duels won.
Interesting Stats
Read through the strengths for each team, which are identified by WhoScored.com. Nope, that wasn't a copy-and-paste error. Confirm for yourself.
The Earthquakes are without their top goal scorer (World Cup) and assist leader (red card). The Earthquakes also concede slightly more goals than they score ... but they still give up fewer goals per game than the Sounders. San Jose hasn't lost by more than 1 goal this entire season.
As always, please let me know if you'd like to see any changes in the graphic.
