The Sounders U23s have begun the next season of developing future soccer stars in the PDL. The season kicked off last Friday on the road in Oregon, where the Sounders dropped their opener 0-1 to Lane United. That gameday roster didn't have the contingent of Sounders Academy graduates who will eventually populate the roster, including Darwin Jones, Jordan Morris, and Jordan Schweitzer. Like many PDL teams, the roster is a little thin early in the season as the college players finish up classes before the summer. But it did include Academy graduate and Seattle U player Chase Hanson, ex-senior Sounders backup keeper Jordan Jennings, and Academy graduate Jamael Cox, who was last playing for Tampa Bay in the NASL.
Today's roster will be much the same, with Cox and Jennings starting. The opponent is Puget Sound Gunners, who were recently the North Sound Seawolves before relocating to Issaquah, affiliating with Issaquah Soccer Club, and rebranding. They're also the ones providing the stream of the game, which is at Sunset Stadium in Sumner.
