World Cup 2014 Open Thread: Italy v Costa Rica, Switzerland v France, Honduras v Ecuador

Is this the day that CONCACAF becomes a real power? Can Costa Rica upset another former World Cup winner? Can Honduras nab a win? Turn on ESPN all day and find out.

Today's ESPN games are going to be an amazing collection of MLS and CONCACAF talent. Costa Rica starts the day off facing Italy. If Leo Gonzalez' countrymen pull off the second upset they will be through. A team with two MLS defenders and an MLS midfielder could be through. 9 AM on ESPN. This is the match of the day and you get it first. Using the Coffee Quality Index (tm) the Ticos should win.

Switzerland and France play. Nkufo and Henry aren't there. France dominated Honduras in the first match. Switzerland stole the win from Ecuador. The winner is not necessarily through to the knockouts. You get to watch this one if you are taking a long lunch. Noon - ESPN.

Honduras and Ecuador are the final match of the day. Leave work early so you can watch former Sounder Mario Martinez, San Jose's Bernardez, Houston's Garcia, and New England's Bengston. It's an MLS party against the South American side that's looked the worst so far. (I'm glad I picked them with my 2nd round World Cup draft)

This is your World Cup 2014 June 20th open thread [insert FIFA music here]
