Sounders v. PSA Elite, community player ratings

New, 14 comments

Cooper, Scott, Kovar lead fan ratings in easy U.S. Open Cup win.

Sounder at Heart readers were impressed with the first-team debut of Aaron Kovar in the Seattle Sounders U.S. Open Cup win over PSA Elite.

Kovar finished with the third highest rating from the community, finishing behind Man of the Match Kenny Cooper at Mr. Sounder Zach Scott.

The number of ballots cast was down significantly for the Open Cup opener compared to the number of people who usually rate Sounders MLS games, with 95 ratings cast compared to 450 to 550 usually cast during an MLS regular season match.

Here's the full look at the community ratings for this game. Reader scores follow the player's name, followed by my ratings in parenthesis and then the difference between those two numbers in italics.

Player: Average Fan Rating (Author Rating) Difference

Marcus Hahnemann: 6.26 (6) +0.26

David Estrada: 6.26 (7) -0.74

Jalil Anibaba: 5.95 (6) -0.05

Zach Scott: 6.98 (6) +0.98 Zach had a few of good clearances and an awesome header goal. I totally get why readers scored him a 7 here and not the 6 I gave. I just didn't see a ton of work from him given how little a threat PSA Elite posed. But I'm good with this.

Leo Gonzalez: 6.46 (6) +0.46

Sean Okoli: 5.19 (5) +0.19

Michael Azira: 5.87 (6) -0.13

Brad Evans: 6.90 (7) -0.10

Aaron Kovar: 6.92 (6) +0.92

Kenny Cooper: 7.30 (7) +0.30

Cam Weaver: 5.58 (5) +0.58

Subs

Fabio Pereira (63rd minute): 5.56 (6) -0.44

Chad Barrett: (80th minute): 5.92 (7) -1.08 A little surprised by this. Chad wasn't on long, but his short stint was very productive to my eyes, not the least of which was a quality run and cross that led to the final goal.

Lamar Neagle: (88th minute): 5.40 (incomplete) ~
