Infographic: Sounders v. Chicago Fire

A look at players to watch, team stats, and previous head-to-head results for the Sounders away game against the Chicago Fire.

Steven Bisig - USA Today

On the same day the United States men's national team faces Nigeria in a friendly, and the Seattle Reign take on the third-place Chicago Red Stars at home, the Sounders face another Chicago team: the Fire.

Let's take a look at our chances against the Chicago Fire ahead of Saturday's match.

Injury / Player Status Updates

Reigning league MVP Mike Magee did not play against Colorado or his former club, the L.A. Galaxy, due to a calf injury. He was likely just resting for a few games, but remains a wild card. Another player left out of the lineup was forward Patrick Nyarko, who has 1 goal and 2 assists for the season and is dealing with a knee injury.

The Sounders remain without starters Clint Dempsey, DeAndre Yedlin, and Djimi Traore, as well as other key players Andy Rose, Dylan Remick and Tristan Bowen, who all suffered injuries in the last Reserve game.

Graphic Updates

This graphic has two changes. Can you spot them?

First, the more obvious one: I've added key defensive players and stats for both teams. Second, instead of focusing on blocks, I changed that stat to clearances. There was never a noticeable difference in blocks per game, so it didn't seem to be a very useful stat.

The graphic keeps getting longer (and better?) thanks to feedback from all of you. Please holler if you think of any other changes or additions. [Note: click to view full size]
