SeaFair Grand Marshal Clint Dempsey seems to be falling in love with Seattle

Sounders' leading scorer says he hopes to remain with team for the long term.

When the sun is shining and the temperature is hovering around 70 degrees like it was on Wednesday, there aren't a lot of cities in the world prettier than Seattle. Throw in the chance to play in front of more than 40,000 fans on a weekly basis and being asked to be the grand marshal of the city's biggest celebration -- SeaFair -- and it's no wonder that Clint Dempsey is finding himself smitten with his new home.

"Come August I'll have been here a year," Dempsey told reporters. "Anytime you can be involved in the stuff of the community you feel more a part of the community. I have three kids and two or them are involved in the school system. Being able to live here with my family, have them in the schools here, be a part of some the things that we do here in the community, you feel more attached, more involved, more a part of it. My family loves it here."

That's obviously great to hear, especially given how sensitive we can all be when it comes to star players potentially wondering if the grass is greener somewhere else. But then Dempsey added this beautiful nugget that should really pique our interest.

"We want to stay here as long as possible," he said. "We look forward to the parade, but we also look forward to at least two more years after this season of being here and hopefully more."

Well, Clint, I'm just a guy who writes for a little blog, but let me tell you that especially if you keep playing the way that you've been playing, you will be welcomed with open arms. Also, feel free to start calling yourself Seattleite. Don't think anyone would mind.
