Major Link Soccer: A bloodbath in Brazil

New, 132 comments

Not a literal bloodbath, just one in which the Brazilian national team got annihilated by the German squad.

The Seattle Impact FC, an indoor team playing in the ShoWare Center in Kent, held a press conference to shed a bit of light on what will be going down. The team is scheduled for 20 games throughout November to February and will hold tryouts later in July.

Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter is critical of the coin flip procedure that determines pairings, specifically because it will be the Sounders third home game and the Timbers second game on the road.

DeAndre Yedlin is ours and you can't have him. But it soon looks like he will be someone else's and we can't have him. Soccer By Ives details the pros and cons of his three different possible avenues.

World Cup

As the entire world is now aware, Germany absolutely dismantled Brazil in a display that no one really was expecting (and if they said they were expecting it then he/she is a liar). With the dominating 7-1 win, Germany is the clear favorite even if Argentina and The Netherlands decided to join forces and throw out a 22-man squad onto the field. Despite the huge score differential, Germany only set one World Cup record - most goals scored in a semifinal.

Although, they did help set this record:

On an individual note, Miroslav Klose is now the World Cup's all-time leading scorer after putting in his 16th World Cup goal, and the second goal of the game.

MLSSoccer.com is quick on the draw and keeping a page loaded with links to every goal scored in the World Cup.

Meanwhile, on The Netherlands side, Louis van Gaal isn't sure if Robin van Persie will be ready to play against Argentina. He stayed out of practice before the big game because of a stomach bug.

It has been a few days since a FIFA corruption story surfaced on the web. Luckily, FIFA always has that end of the news cycle covered.

MLS

Sporting Kansas City announced the signing of midfielder Michael Kafari on Tuesday. Kafari was drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.

The Vancouver Whitecaps and the City of New Westminster have signed an agreement to mark their intent on bringing a USL PRO franchise to New Westminster. The USL PRO team would involve the current Whitecaps ownership group and are aiming for a 2015 debut.

Europe

Nike is out as sponsors of the Manchester United kit after a 13-year run. Adidas appears to be the leaders in the £750 million sponsorship deal.
