Scott Levy's short-form documentary will air prior to the Sounders-Earthquakes game.

Any reader of this site is surely familiar with LevyFilms' work. Director Scott Levy is the man behind the Sounders documentary "American Football" and earlier this year I even filmed a pilot for "In the 18," which eventually became a semi-regular online series.

Back when "In the 18" was first envisioned, Levy had hoped to air it as a weekly TV series. On Wednesday, we'll at least get a taste of what that might be like. The 30-minute program will air on JoeTV at 6 p.m., just ahead of the start of the Sounders broadcast.

In addition to opening with a preamble written by one of Sounder at Heart's readers (sorry, can't give away who yet) and voiced by Q13's Aaron Levine, the show will feature the kind of footage we've come to expect from Levy. He has some great access to the Chicago Fire U.S. Open Cup match, as well as the Houston Dynamo match. The show will also feature interviews with Sigi Schmid and Gonzalo Pineda.

The Schmid interview is a bit different than the stuff we've seen before as he gets a bit more into his tactical philosophy and shows a bit more of a nuts and bolts side. Pineda's interview focuses more on his upbringing as a child of artists and he gets into his battles with depression when he thought injury may force him to retire. Both are well done and definitely worth watching.

If this is the kind of stuff you'd like to see more of, be sure to let Q13 and JoeTV know by not just watching, but also telling friends and family. There aren't a lot of soccer markets that receive the kind of coverage that the Sounders do and this is something quite unlike anything anyone else is doing.
