Sounders at Portland Timbers - Gamethread

At 2PM you will turn on ESPN2. You'll settle into your bar stool, your couch, your booth, your desk, your away support stands and you will watch intently. Your passion will be part of the story. The desire for 3 points burning brightly and ready to ignite fires. You will be us.

Both Seattle Sounders FC and the Portland Timbers have their Ideal XI available for selection. Both have a little bit of fatigue to get through after midweek matches, but when a Cascadia Cup is on the line does fatigue matter? Not a lot matters. The Timbers are still bad at defense. Seattle is still slumping. Stats say that this should be another draw. The standings make this match key for both sides, for different reasons. The Rave Green can retake 1st in the league with a win and in a strong position against the five other sides competing for the Shield. Soccer village USA needs the points in order to break that red line in their three-team race for the 5th seed in the playoffs.

Those things don't matter. No a lot matters in these games. Legends are not made due to statistics. They are made because they rise up against an angry pirate missing a hand and they defeat him. Legends are made because they believe they can fly and then they do. Providence Park will see some magic. You will be watching.
