Behind a "shin-tacular"(TM) goal by Clint Dempsey the Seattle Sounders FC defeated the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on a moist afternoon at CenturyLink Field. After a pretty mild first half, Seattle started to unlock the Rapids with multiple good looks. They finally broke through on a Marco Pappa corner kick where Dempsey volleyed the ball off his shin and into the back of the net.
In what seemed to be a point of emphasis in the half-time talk, Seattle had multiple surgical passes through Colorado's defense. First a slice through by Clint Dempsey to DeAndre Yedlin and then Gonzalo Pineda picks out Brad Evans making a smart run into the box:
