Seattle Sounders fans will get the opportunity to give Landon Donovan the send-off he deserves. Donovan's final regular-season game will be played against the Sounders at CenturyLink Field, a game that was already scheduled to be opened up to its full capacity. That means a crowd of about 67,000 should be on hand for the event.
This will mark the second time Sounders fans have had the chance to bid farewell to one of the greatest players in United States soccer history. Back in 2011, about 64,000 were in attendance for Kasey Keller's final regular-season game. The Sounders were able to beat the San Jose Earthquakes on a pair of second-half goals, but that game is also remembered for Keller's quad-save that kept the match close.
Although the Galaxy ended the Sounders' perfect run in front of open-stadium crowds in last year's season-finale, the Sounders are 9-0-1 in those matches. That includes a pair of wins this year, a 1-0 win over the Earthquakes and a 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers.
