At least for the near future, Geoff Cameron will remain at Stoke City. Cameron was believed to be in search for a transfer away from the Potters, but the team reportedly turned away offers from both Southampton and Sunderland to keep him. With Stoke's summer signing of Phil Bardsley Cameron will no longer be their unchallenged starter at right back.

Despite earlier claims that he would be staying put at Bayern Munich, USMNT player Julian Green has joined Hamburg SV on a season long loan. Green will definitely have a better shot at minutes in Hamburg than in Munich.

In Louis van Gaal's latest move, Mexico striker Chicharito Hernandez transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid. Before this, Real Madrid only had one striker on their roster, so hopefully between La Liga and Champions League play Chicharito will be able to find some minutes.

If you're looking for a complete listing of all the deadline day moves, fear not, SB Nation has you covered. Among other things, Danny Welbeck transferred to Arsenal, Alvaro Negredo moved to Valencia, and Radamel Falcao signed with Manchester United.

Zenit St. Petersburg may have made the biggest signing of the day however, bringing on the one and only Bart Simpson.

Apparently very little fazes Diego Maradona. Playing in an inter-religious peace match set up by Pope Francis, Maradona was quoted as saying "Today two powers were brought together, the hand of God and that of the Pope." The game featured players from many different cultural and religious backgrounds.

In preparation for the USMNT's September 3rd game against the Czech Republic, US Soccer did a Twitter question session with John Anthony Brooks. Apparently Brooks's biggest mentors have been Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard, and as a kid he looked up to Thierry Henry.

Toronto FC have postponed their impending downfall for a little while longer, managing to hold on to Jermain Defoe despite "record" offers from a few English teams.

Despite leaving Middlesbrough recently, Kei Kamara will not be returning to Sporting Kansas City this season. SKC coach Peter Vermes says that this is because of the way Kamara's contract with SKC was terminated.
