Major Link Soccer - Sounders and USMNT Win

Sounders score 4 in the first half, and the USMNT has three players earn their first USMNT cap

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Sounders took care of business last night. Matt Pentz of Seattle Times offers his first impressions. Here is the match report from, and our own recap from Sounder at Heart.

Game day is finally here. Of course I'm talking about the 22nd ranked Seattle U Redhawks taking on the on 4th ranked Huskies tonight.  The coaches were both on Seattle Soccer Talk with Mike Gastineau Tuesday. It you take a listen you'll hear two competitive coaches with a lot of mutual respect. And a nice little anecdote about trimming trees in the middle of the night by Coach Pete.

The US topped Czech Republic 1-0 thanks to a Bedoya goal. It was a young team, as three players made their debut but not Jordan Morris.

Grant Wahl offers his three thoughts on the game.

Jeff Carlisle at ESPN gives his grades on the game.

Julian Green made his first start for the USMNT. He says Pep Guardiola encouraged the loan to Hamburg. Actually he said something in German which was then translated. If you read German here is the full interview.

Jermaine Jones picked up his first assist, which helped spark the Revolution to a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

Toronto continues to lose, this time to Philadelphia.

When Jermain Defoe and Michael Bradley were signed to Toronto, it was a bloody big deal. But now it appears to be a bloody big mess.

International friendlies are happening this week. Argentina beat Germany, and record low crowds were on hand to watch a boring England team beat Norway.

A couple highlights for today include Italy v Netherlands, Belgium v Australia, and France v Spain.
