Second round pick Tyler Miller is signing with SVN Zweibrücken of the Regionalliga Südwest per Inside NU. The Zweibrücken team site confirmed the signature. Miller's rights will be held by Seattle Sounders FC for the next two years. With a contract that runs through the 2014-15 season he could be in Rave Green as early as this Summer, but he also told InsideNU that his goal is to eventually play in the top leagues in the world.
His long route to that starts playing with a team currently in 16th in an 18-team league on a four-match losing streak. The Regionalliagia Südwest does include reserve sides for clubs like Kaiserslautern, Freiburg and Hoffenheim. They and their competitors in the upper divisions of Germany would pay attention to the lesser sides. This is SVN Zweibrücken's first year in the current 4th division.
The Sounders are now left without a third keeper. With rounds three and four of the draft taking place via conference call on Tuesday, expect a new keeper to join the team. Seattle has picks 48, 75 and 80.
Miller could join the Sounders on a free when his contract is up. They will also maintain his MLS rights for the next two years. He could then rejoin the league through an allocation lottery.
