Sounders preseason schedule: 6 friendlies on tap

Preseason training begins this Saturday as the Sounders prepare for a "friendly" rematch in California and the Desert Diamond Cup.

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

And just like that, it's preseason already. The 2015 squad will suit up together for the first time this Saturday, Jan. 24 at Starfire, and the Sounders have released their full schedule leading up to the March 8 season opener at Century Link. Six friendlies are on the horizon, including the Desert Diamond Cup and a rematch with everyone's favorite western conference foe.

With less than a week in Tukwila under their belts the team will travel to sunny Southern California for a nine-day camp at a college facility. If you're tired of the Galaxy, avert your eyes from this stretch. The Sounders have penciled in friendlies against the MLS side and UCLA's squad.

The club then returns home in early February before heading to the fourth annual FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup, where a coveted preseason trophy is on the line. Seattle will take on FC Tucson, western conference newcomers Sporting Kansas City, and season opener opponents New England Revolution, with a championship round to follow.
