Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl is often the giver of good news, and tonight he dropped a late little nugget in the collective Seattle Sounders FC stocking: Garth Lagerwey's move from Real Salt Lake is complete.
Hearing Garth Lagerwey has signed his contract & will be announced tomorrow as Seattle Sounders GM & president of soccer. Big get.

We've been waiting for this news to drop for weeks since Taylor Twellman first reported Lagerwey's move in December. Since then, there has been radio silence regarding what is a pretty significant change in the structure of two MLS powerhouses, the Sounders and Real Salt Lake.
The tweet specifies that Lagerwey's role will be as both the team's GM and "President of Soccer," appearing to represent a complete change in control of day-to-day soccer operations. This would mean Adrian Hanauer, who has filled the GM role since the beginning of the Sounders MLS era, would likely be entirely focused on the the business and off-field side of club management.
