The fallout from the USMNT loss to Mexico on Saturday in front of 93,723 in the Rose Bowl is rolling in. USMNT manager and technical director, Jurgen Klinsmann, is coming under some fire from the fan base. Meanwhile Klinsmann is deflecting criticism via his normal style, blaming others. This time his players. Specifically Fabian Johnson:
Jurgen Klinsmann: "I had a very severe word with Fabian Johnson, and I sent him home today."

Fabian Johnson was sent home today from the #usmnt. Klinsmann felt he was not injured. Wanted to use last sub for Rimando for PKs vs Mexico

Klinsmann on sending Fabian Johnson home: "He can rethink his approach about his team."

Fabian Johnson's club team does not agree with Klinsmann's assessment:

If only the USMNT manager had a technical director to advise him that airing the team's "dirty laundry" in public like this is a bad idea. What Klinsmann thought to accomplish with this public statement is unclear. As someone who was dehydrated just from standing (okay and occasionally bouncing) in the Rose Bowl for the full 120 minutes, it seems to me that the full compliment of subs could and should have been used earlier in a game to replenish an aging squad. The game kicked off in 90 degree heat and it was apparent many players were laboring early in the second half.
Let's move on. The USMNT made changes on Sunday morning from the squad that played Mexico in the Rose Bowl.
In: Goalkeeper Bill Hamid (D.C. United), midfielders, Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC) and forward Andrew Wooten (Sandhausen)
Out: Goalkeeper Nick Rimando, defenders DaMarcus Beasley and Matt Besler, midfielders Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley and Graham Zusi and forwards Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski.
Of course you can add Fabian Johnson to that out column as of Monday.
Seattle Sounders Brad Evans and former Sounder DeAndre Yedlin are still with the squad. Expect Yedlin to get the start against Costa Rica.
