When Sebastian Giovinco decided to move to MLS they questioned his decision, called him crazy, and told him his game will suffer. Sebastian Giovinco didn't believe any of it and went on to have what many are considering "The best season ever by an MLS player".

In American sports being drafted #1 carries it's own set of expectations. Sometimes those expectations aren't  realized and Public Enemy's "Don't believe the Hype" is played when the number 1 draft pick is announced. For Cyle Larin that is not the case as he has gone from number 1 pick to sure shot for MLS Rookie of the Year.

The New York Red Bulls might win the MLS Supporters Shield on Sunday, but if reports are to be believed the Red Bulls could be playing in Pepsi Stadium come next season.

David Beckham is planning to play seven matches on seven continents in the space of seven days to celebrate his 10-year anniversary as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. A documentary will be made, a proclamation stated, and a new stadium in Miami built or not.

US Soccer is implementing big changes in youth soccer come 2016 & 2017. School year changes to calendar year by 2017 (Region IV is switching in 2016). Small-Sided Games will be mandated come August of 2017 (again most regions are switching in 2016). The USSDA did not want to be left out and in 2016 they will be adding U12 teams to the academy system and splitting the U13/14 teams into separate U13 and U14 teams. The changes are geared toward better development and ultimately to bring fun back into the game.

U.S. Soccer

The World Champions come to Seattle. Head coach Jill Ellis has called in 31 players for this camp and two games against Brazil. Will Ellis play any of the new players or will she stick with lineup that won the World Cup.

It was a game of two halves for the US U17 YNT. Playing Croatia Tuesday the U.S. went up 2-0 at halftime, the second half was a different story with Croatia equalizing in the 77th minute and out shooting the U.S. 18-1 in the second half.

Would the USMNT have any use for a six-foot-three dual national center forward who scores goals? Theoson Jordan Siebatcheu is available if Jurgen is listening.

Bring back the "Bruce" at least if it's "Under the Right Circumstances". Current LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was asked by Alexi Lalas if he would be interested in coaching the USMNT again and Arena had some very interesting things to say.

World Soccer

One minute Michel Platini is complaining and the next minute he states he is "bullet proof" and has not lost support in his bid to replace Sepp Blatter as the head of world soccer's governing body. The fact that Platini is on a 90 day suspension will not deter his intentions to run for the FIFA presidency.

United Arab Emirates footballer Abdullah Qassem has been sentenced to prison for the heinous crime of criticizing his national team coach on video. Some pundits in the U.S. Soccer community have taken notice and decided Jurgen Klinsmann is a great coach.

The 23 man shortlist is out for the Ballon d'Or, but really only three names count and only two of those will battle it out for the award. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Neymar are all up for the award.

Could  Bob Bradley be learning another language come January? Reports in France have the former USMNT coach in deep discussions with French Ligue2 side Le Havre.

Goals of the week: Volleys, Volleys, Volleys
