With the final, crucial match of the MLS regular season on the horizon, Seattle Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said after Friday's training that he should have his pick from the entire squad for Sunday's Decision Day matchup against Real Salt Lake.
As reported earlier this week, Marco Pappa, Oniel Fisher, and Nelson Haedo Valdez all returned from injury and have been in full practice since. Schmid noted that some players, notably Valdez, may not be ready for the full 90 minutes at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, but virtually the entire squad is in the mix for selection.
As for Schmid's preparation for Sunday, he said that despite Real Salt Lake's guaranteed exclusion from the playoffs, he expects nothing less than a committed performance. "You obviously have to make use of your chances when you have them, nobody's gonna expect Salt Lake to roll over and play dead. Their character and history is too good for that to happen."
