Levy Films has been doing solid work for the Tacoma Stars ahead of the start of the MASL season. On Friday night, the Stars beat Sacramento 5-1 behind Dan Antoniuk's hat trick and Danny Waltman's 16 saves. Levy captured some of the highlights of the match, including some great lines from head coach Darren Sawatzky.
After the match, we caught up with Antoniuk and Waltman to get their thoughts on the team's performance.

What led to you signing with the Stars?
I have family up here, but I knew Danny Waltman. I’ve known Darren [Sawatzky] for a little bit in the past, from playing. Those guys got in touch with me, I talked with them for a little bit, and it was a better decision for me to come up here. Everything fit right. I’m happy I’m here.
Previous stops in indoor soccer
I played for San Diego last season, St. Louis before that, and for four seasons before that, I was in San Diego. I had 4 or 5 years in San Diego. I have a lot of love and respect for those guys, but things change. You have to move on and make the most of what you’ve got, and I’m happy I’m here now.
Impressions of the Stars organization
This first game was awesome. A lot of fans. A lot of hype. The field is nice. The stadium is great. I met the owners. Darren is a great guy. Everyone respects him. Everyone buys into what he’s saying. We’re all hard workers, so the club, the organization is great, obviously. In the northwest, the fans up here are awesome. The Stars have got a lot of history in this city. I’m loving it. It’s a great atmosphere. You can’t ask for anything more, really.
Thoughts on getting a hat trick in the first game
It’s always great scoring goals, but if you look at the goals, a lot of the play, I’m just there to put it in. I’m the last piece of the puzzle, but everyone deserves the accomplishments. It’s not just me. The pass from [Jamar] Beasley, the other balls down low, I’m scrapping in the box, so as a unit, we’re working great. It’s nice to score a couple of goals and be the one that bangs them in, but it’s a whole team effort.

Connection to the MISL Tacoma Stars
My dad was the general manager. I was the kid hanging around the locker room, hanging around the practices. My indoor education started early. I had a good group of older players there, kind of being dads to me, big brothers. It was just an awesome way to start off my soccer career and then to have the opportunity to play for the Stars again is really a dream come true. It’s a team I grew up watching. I would’ve supported the team if I wasn’t able to play. I would’ve painted my face, worn my old jerseys and stuff. Fortunately, I got to still play for them while I’ve still got some gas left in the tank.
Thoughts on the defensive performance
It’s a team effort. We’ve been preaching team defense all year. To get anywhere close to a shutout, you need so many saves. You need your defenders. I had 3 defenders save them off the line. Whenever I was beat, the guys were there. That’s really what this team is all about, being willing to die on the field for the guy next to you. It’s incredible. I just feel really blessed and lucky to be a part of it. It’s incredible that it’s happening.
