Dan Antoniuk's hat trick and Danny Waltman's 16 saves in last week's 5-1 win over the Sacramento Surge were good enough to earn MASL Team of the Week honors.
Antoniuk scored the first goal of the game on Friday night and added two more goals in the third quarter to put the game away. The only player in the league with more goals than Antoniuk in week 3 was Alejandro Leyva of Soles de Sonora, who scored 5 goals against San Diego in a 15-8 win.
Waltman's 1 goal allowed was the lowest total for a starting goalkeeper in week 3. The goal came with 4:05 left in the game. His save rate of 94.1% is currently the best in the league by a wide margin.
Both players are also nominated for MASL Player of the Week, which fans can vote for on the league's Facebook page.
Next up for the Stars is a 3 game road trip to California this weekend, including a game on Friday against the Turlock Express and a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday against Sacramento. All of the games will be live streamed on Go Live Sports Cast.
The next Stars home game is scheduled for November 20th at ShoWare Center. In the hopes of improving on the opening game's attendance of 3,710, the club has announced that this game will be $2 beer night.
