Major Link Soccer: Point Earned

The USMNT earned a point on the road drawing with Trinidad & Tobago in Port of Spain Tuesday night.

Looking for a win the United States settled for a draw Tuesday night in Trinidad and Tobago. The USMNT looked outplayed and uninterested for most of the first half, however the U.S. did come alive in the second half with a handful of scoring opportunities.

26 years ago"the shot heard round the world" was witnessed first hand by Trinidad goalkeeper Michael Maurice. That goal scored by Paul Caligiuri helped the U.S. qualify for the 1990 World Cup and changed soccer in America forever.

At 14 Bobby Wood decided to make a change, that change involved moving to Germany to pursue his goal of being a professional soccer player. Since that change Wood has had to prove himself at every level.

Back in the early 80's the USA did everything they could to build a team that would qualify for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Here is why "Team America" failed and everything else you wanted to know about the team that played in the the NASL for America.

Kekuta Manneh is a 20 year old speedster for the Vancouver Whitecaps, in a few months he will also be an American. Kekuta Manneh has lived in Point Roberts in Washington State while pursuing his US citizenship.

Costa Rican International Alvaro Saborio put pen to paper Tuesday. Sabario signed a contract extension with DC United extending his stay in the capitol after his trade from Real Salt Lake in July.

World Soccer

Tuesday night saw Sweden and Ukraine qualify for Euro 2016 in France. The Swedes were lead by Zlatan Ibrahimavic's two goals, and Ukraine struck late in the game against Slovenia to equalize and send the Ukrainians to their first European Championship.

It was celebrations and jubilation for the Irish on Monday night. They also had a 60 year old Superman on their side!!

The hype train is in full swing for Dele Alli, Alli has gone from a relative unknown teenage prospect to a starter with Tottenham then topped all that off Tuesday night with his first start and goal for England.

Usually going a man down means someone has been injured or red carded, but in Belgium recently an amateur team went a man down to natures calling.

Rain turned to flooding in Carlisle, England, and unfortunately the flooding left the soccer field looking more like a swimming pool.
