Fredy Montero named Europa League Player of the Week

Playing time has been a bit hard to come by for Fredy Montero this season, and the bulk of it has come during Sporting CP's Europa League campaign. One such opportunity came on Thursday and the former Seattle Sounders Designated Player made of the most of it, scoring a goal and picking up two assists to lead Sporting CP to a 4-2 win on the road against Lokomotiv Moscow. The performance was strong enough to win the Europa League's Player of the Week.

Hopefully this will help Montero get a bit more playing time in Primeira Liga competition, where Sporting CP is currently five points clear of second place. Montero has just seven appearances and only two starts and he hasn't scored a goal since Sept. 21 in league play.
