The Seattle Sounders will host Club America in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals on Feb. 23 and play the away leg in Mexico City on March 2, it was announced on Wednesday. The home match -- as well as a potential home match in the semifinals -- will be part of the 2016 season-ticket package. Tickets will be made available to the general public on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Club America is one of the most popular teams in the Western Hemisphere, the most successful team in Mexico's history and the defending CCL champions. This will mark the first time the Sounders have played Club America, but it is the fourth time they've faced a Mexican opponent in CCL. The Sounders lost to Santos Laguna in the 2012 quarterfinals and 2013 semifinals and beat Tigres UANL in the 2013 quarterfinals, the first time a MLS team had ever eliminated a Mexican opponent in the knockout stage of the tournament.
