MLS

Stefan Szymanski co-wrote Soccernomics, but recently he's been thinking about what MLS needs to do to become a major sports league. In Part 1 of his interview, he says MLS teams needs to spend ten to twenty times what they're spending now (among other things).

Another sports analytics heavy-weight has spoken out recently, although not about MLS. Nate Silver is worried that privatized sports analytics may put an end to innovation in the field.

CBA negotiations are currently underway, and the league and the player's union still seem to be almost diametrically opposed. Because owner's have more financial security and are fewer in number they would seem to have the upper hand, but might players go on strike to shift the balance?

Hopefully the season will come soon though- and if so you're probably itching to get to know the rest of MLS. Check out this look at FC Dallas's squad so far. One notable FC Dallas player, Dan Kennedy, was the crown jewel of Chivas USA's remnants. Kennedy has embraced his move eastward.

Jason Kreis is apparently looking to set up a diamond midfield at NYCFC, just like he played with RSL. But he's found a problem in his distinct lack of Kyle Beckermans. Who will be at the bottom tip of NYCFC's diamond?

Robbie Rogers's past few years have been eventful, to say the least. Rogers takes a look back at his recent struggles and how he's worked to overcome them here.

In case you missed it, the Timbers Army's van got towed yesterday. Join us in celebrating their misery.

Jurgen Klinsmann is not giving up on his dream of a fully German speaking USMNT. The German coach has apparently been "recruiting" Hamburg midfielder Ashton Gotz.

Dortmund are having a pretty bad Bundesliga season so far, but their fans are (of course) not giving up on them. The New York Times took a look into fandom at the German club as well as soccer fandom in general.

We've all heard about Barcelona's Tiki-Taka, but the Catalan club's distinctive style is a lot more complicated than just passing the ball around a bunch. If you want a more in-depth tactical analysis of their style, fear not, one is here.

The dumpster fire that is the 2022 Qatar World Cup is getting doused (kind of) and moving to winter. More details about the shift in schedule were leaked, including that the World Cup may be shorter than usual.
