There are just eight days* until Seattle opens up their 2015 season and the question for three trophies. Sporting Kansas City is their final preparatory opponent for Seattle Sounders FC in a preseason where the Rave Green have yet to win a game against MLS competition. That should be easier in this game, since Sporting played their starters against Minnesota United.
Tonight's match has no relation to Desert Diamond Cup standings as this rematch is the three seed against the five seed. Colorado and Salt Lake play the late match as a championship. The other two games are just for more training.
What to Watch:
- No 3-5-2 - Seattle tried this the last time and made a few errors that made the lesson a little dirty. Let's see the Sounders' starters go nearly 90 how they should against the Revs in just 8 days.
- Defense - B-Rad is still learning the CB role and Mears is new to the team. Seattle's ability to win trophies will be based on how that backline keeps the ball out of the net in 2015. Small improvements there will go a long ways towards winning 20 games again.
- Hail Hydra - Cooper (4), Neagle (3), Dempsey (2), Parsemain (2), Martins, Barrett, Azira, Pappa, and Mansaray all have goals during preseason. Who notches their preseason belt tonight?
- Stepping up - Azira, Roldan, Barrett, Cooper and Correa all were praised this week for helping their stock during the rest of preseason. Add in Perkins as the second keeper and that's basically a bench.
