1: This was the first time the Sounders lost when Obafemi Martins bagged a goal. They had won the first 20 games in which the Nigerian had scored. It's also the first time Martins has scored with the Sounders trailing by more than a goal.
3: The Sounders have now given up three goals while playing up a man in their history. This was, however, the first time they've done so at home or not won the game in which it happened.
6: This was the sixth time the Sounders have allowed an opponent to score at least three goals at CenturyLink Field. They've gone 1-4-1 in those games.
9: Chris Wondolowski now has nine goals against the Sounders, more than any other player in the MLS era. That's five more than any other player, as five different players have scored four times against the Sounders.
11: The Sounders used the same starting XI as they had in the first week, something they only managed to do in back-to-back weeks three times all of last year and they first time they did it was in late August.
16: The Earthquakes came into this game riding a 16-game winless streak that stretched deep into last season. The last time they won was on Aug. 2, 2014 ... against the Sounders. The last time the Earthquakes won on the road was on May 31, 2014, a stretch of 13 matches.
18: It only took Clint Dempsey 18 seconds to score the Sounders' opening goal. That easily beat Eddie Johnson's club record in MLS play. Johnson scored just 77 seconds into a match against the Colorado Rapids on July 28, 2012. It also beat Roger Levesque's famous "48 seconds" goal that he scored against the Portland Timbers in 2009 U.S. Open Cup play.
22: No team has had more success against the Sounders than the Earthquakes, who have claimed 22 points (7-2-1) against their Heritage Cup "rivals" since 2012. As a point of comparison, the LA Galaxy have just 12 points and Real Salt Lake 15 points against the Sounders in the same time. Even including playoffs, the Galaxy have gone 5-5-3 and Real Salt Lake 4-4-3 against the Sounders since 2012.
68: This was just the second time in 68 matches the Sounders have failed to at least claim a point after scoring the match's first goal. The only other loss in that time was to the Columbus Crew on March 29, 2014. That loss snapped a 51-match unbeaten run after scoring first and was followed by a stretch of games in which the Sounders went 5-0-1. Let's hope this loss sparks a similar run.
