With the reappearance of the sun comes week two of Seattle Reign preseason camp. The biggest news is the return of Kim Little to the team. Last season's runaway NWSL MVP is expected to be the team's keystone again, especially with the loss of the US national team players to the World Cup in midseason. Of those internationals, Megan Rapinoe is also back with the team for preseason. Hope Solo and Sydney Leroux are expected to join the team in the coming weeks.
Last week we detailed the large pack of trialists vying for a couple of open roster spots on the team (or failing that, a spot as an amateur or reserve player). That group has been whittled down from 17 to 10 this week. The players no longer with the team are Gurveen Clair, Kimberley Marshall, Dyanne Anderson, Daniela Andrade, Hannah Kimsey, Alex Quincey, and Ashlie Stokes. Five of those seven come from the group of undrafted college graduates. The only remaining undrafted college players are goalkeeper Caroline Stanley and UW forward Jaclyn Softli. All of the previous pros are still with the team as are the Reign's two selection in the offseason draft.
In addition, according to various Twitter reports defender Holly Hein — who joined the club in midseason last year but never made an appearance — is set to leave camp to join Finnish club Åland United.
