This fourth friendly against a Liga MX side sees the Seattle Sounders FC host Club Tijuana Xolos. Both sides are without their top talents due to National Team calls and injury.
In previous friendly matches against Liga MX sides Seattle is 3-1 Chivas de Guadalajara, 2-0 Chiapas and 0-0 against Veracruz. In CONCACAF Champions League play the Sounders fare worse going 0-2 & 2-3 against Monterrey in 2010, 1-0 and 1-2 against Monterrey in 2011, 2-1 & 1-6 against Santos Laguna in 2012, and in 2013 going 0-1 & 3-1 against Tigres then 0-1 & 1-1 against Santos Laguna. That's an overall record against Liga MX teams of 5-6-2 and a minus three goal differential. If Seattle advances out of the Group Stage of this cycle's CCL they will probably face a Mexican side in the knockouts next February.
What to Watch:
- Starting lineup - Sigi will be short in the match against FC Dallas so it's likely that he fields as close to his standard XI as possible to get a few guys more experience.
- Evans at CB - If he gets a run there, how will he adjust from the loss to San Jose?
- Number of Xolos fans - The team says that the main point of the match is to get Seattle better preparation for the CCL, but a nice side benefit would be to reach more of the Mexican and Mexican-American fans in the area. How many Xolo heads on Rave Green bodies will we see in the future?
