Jordan Morris leads United States to another win over Mexico

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Taking a break from Stanford University, Jordan Morris earned his first ever start for the full United States National Team. Going against lifetime rivals Mexico, the Mercer Island and Seattle Sounders Academy product scored the game winner in the 49th minute. Morris left the pitch in the 65th minute replaced by Juan Agudelo, who scored the second goal. Dos a cero lives again.

Former Sounders All Star DeAndre Yedlin, now with Tottenham, played the full 90. Seattle's Brad Evans finished the match with nine minutes played which should help the Sounders with their tight roster over the weekend.

The other key takeaway is that a sod surface over artificial and under a dome does not look good, nor play well. Kyle Beckerman suffered a non-contact knee injury in the 63rd minute.

Both the USA and Mexico played experimental squads in this never-a-friendly outside of a FIFA international window. Former MLS players Cubo Torres and Carlos Salcedo both played for Mexico. Liga MX players Greg Garza, Victor Alvarado, Joe Corona and William Yarbough all took the field for the States.

Completing the Sounders superfecta was Gonzalo Pineda who did pre/half/post analysis on FoxSports1.
