Sounders 2 fall in Oklahoma, again

Sounders FC 2 suffer a second-straight road loss, this time at Oklahoma City Energy after giving up a late goal to Dani König. See the numbers and rate the squad as they return home to recover.

Sounders FC 2 return from a two-game road trip in Oklahoma with no points after they fell behind late to the Oklahoma City Energy and couldn't return fire, settling for a 2-1 defeat. Dani König's 86th minute goal proved enough to finish off the young Sounders. On a road trip that exposed plenty of issues in defense, the Sounders were lucky to only give up two goals against OKC. Giving up 14 shots (four on target), S2 was held under fairly constant pressure by the Energy.

After a lightning storm delayed the start of the match, it took a bit of time for each team to get into the match. S2 took the lead in the 33rd minute when Darwin Jones tapped in a rebound from an Andy Craven shot. But that lead only lasted five minutes, as Chuy Sanchez beat Charlie Lyon after receiving a long ball from Dani König. OKC almost took a lead into the half when Amadou Sanyang conceded a penalty, but luckily Michael Thomas posted the spot kick.

The Sounders were much more efficient when it came to chances, putting five of their eight shots on target, but suffered the same fate as they did against Tulsa in the second half and were unable to find the back of the net. Sounders 2 sit in 3rd place and will be in Vancouver next weekend to take on Whitecaps 2.
