Megan Rapinoe came to the Seattle Reign with seemingly mixed emotions. Prior to the inaugural NWSL Allocation, the midfielder had professed a desire to end up in Portland. That was where the product of the University of Portland was making her offseason home, after all, and by all appearances they were supposed to have one of the better teams.
Rapinoe never complained about playing for the Reign, but it certainly didn't seem like her first choice. After meeting Reign head coach and general manager Laura Harvey and spending the second half of an otherwise wasted season here, though, she started to come around. Rapinoe has since bought a home in Seattle and now calls it home.
To finalize that transformation we offer the video evidence above. That's Rapinoe, as well as Reign teammate Jessica Fishlock, leading ECS in the "Build a Bonfire" chant. And, yes, that's Portland on top. We approve.
