Major Link Soccer: Stefan Frei remains in Seattle

It was never really in doubt, but you can never be too sure.

Seattle

Rumors have emerged recently of a potential multi-purpose stadium being built in Tukwila, a stadium that could possibly host an NHL or NBA team. ESPN is now reporting that NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is denying any news of expansion.

The Americas

The Montreal Impact's starting keeper, Evan Bush, received a questionable yellow card in the first half of the Impact's CONCACAF final against Club America. Bush was suspended for the second leg of the series, even after Montreal attempted to appealed his card. The Impact were looking at keepers in MLS to possibly bring in on a short-term loan for the game (including Stefan Frei), but have instead elected to sign a player from NASL.

Last weekend, Houston's Jermaine Taylor received a red card so questionable that it recognizably wasn't even a foul. The referee in charge of the game, Kevin Stott, has admitted no wrong doing, and if Houston's appeal of the call doesn't come through they could be without one of their starting center backs for next week's rivalry game against Dallas.

Speaking of FC Dallas, the team is off to a rough start this year. Not results-wise though, in fact Dallas have already received two red cards in the span of eight games. But as they look back on those red cards they're wondering whether this foul trouble could lead to problems in the standings down the line.

When NYCFC joined the league, they received a strong backing from fans new to the game or MLS. But as the NYCFC has faltered in its last few games, many of those fans are falling away. One NYCFC supporter is calling on his fellow New Yorkers to support the team through thick and thin, for as he says, "this isn’t just any sport. And this sure as hell isn’t just any city."

Those of you who watched Toronto FC's game last weekend may have been surprised by the fact that Brazilian midfielder Jackson's jersey did not display Toronto's sponsor, BMO. Head coach Greg Vanney has addressed the issue, saying it was "an oversight," which is exactly what he would say if he were covering up for some greater plot.

Detroit has undergone some harrowing changes over the past few years. Some citizens have found something to hold on to through the trouble though: Detroit City FC. The club is a grassroots start up that has recently brought a lot of joy to soccer fans in the city.

Chicharito has been on a bit of a goal streak at Real Madrid lately while filling in for the injured Karim Benzema. Nevertheless, Mexico head coach Miguel Herrera is saying the the Guadalajara native should transfer to a smaller club.

NBC Sports has begun to stream content on Apple TV, as well as Roku. That doesn't mean you can purchase the content through those platforms though- if you want to watch games you're going to need a cable subscription.

Nepal was recently struck by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake. The quake created a gruesome scene in Nepal, and has left much of the country in chaos. American Soccer Now interviewed the coach of Nepal's national team, Jack Stefanowski, to discuss his earthquake story.

As a joke, St Mirren's Steven Thompson threw a corner flag at teammate John McGinn during practice. We may think of Oba flips as dangerous, but when compared to throwing spiked poles, they're probably a little less so. Apparently the pole buried itself about a centimeter deep in McGinn's thigh, although luckily he is not expected to be out for an extended period of time.

The Daily Mail has recently compiled a report of all the money that Qatar spent to host the 2022 World Cup, as well as where all that money went. The picture does not look pretty- they estimate that about $18.7 billion dollars were used.

Are you interested in keeping up with Fredy Adu, but it feels like you never have the time to sit down and watch a whole KuPS match? Well now thanks to technology, you don't have to! Someone has compiled a video of just Adu's touches in recent game:
