Chad Marshall was able to get through a full day of training with no setbacks on Friday after being limited for much of the week. That likely puts him in position to assume his starting spot against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday.
The prognosis was not so good for the Seattle Sounders' only other injured starter. Obafemi Martins missed another day of training and will miss his second consecutive game with what the team is calling a "tibial contusion."
"Nothing has changed" was all Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid offered in terms of updates on Martins' condition.
That almost certainly means the Sounders will use the same lineup they did in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Chad Barrett admirably filled in for Martins and scored the first brace of his Sounders career, adding some quality hold-up play and generally giving the Whitecaps center backs all they could handle. With Sporting KC struggling to find a capable partner for Matt Besler, expect more of the same.
