It comes as little surprise that United States U23 Coach Andy Herzog chose Jordan Morris as one of his five forwards heading to the Toulon Tournament. The Stanford/Sounders product leads the age group in goal scoring with three goals in four matches. Morris' four games also make him one of the veterans in U23 competitions.
Morris is one of three amateurs on the squad that will face Costa Rica, France, the Netherlands and Qatar. If the USA finishes in the top two of that group they will face either the winner of the other group in the tournament final, or the second place team in the tournament's third place game. The second group consists of China PR, England, Ivory Coast, Mexico and Morocco.
Only 19 players were announced. Herzog will add one other player by Tuesday evening in order to fill out the 20-man roster. Herzog and the USA are treating the tournament as preparation for the CONCACAF Olympics Qualifying in October.
Morris reconfirmed his intent to play for Stanford this Fall when on Nos Audietis last week.
