Monday's practice session brought positive news for the Seattle Sounders faithful. Obafemi Martins was back at training. Sigi Schmid told media, "I think he should be back for Wednesday. He’s over it, and we’ll just move forward."
And there was much rejoicing. In the three matches he didn't play this season Seattle's offense has not been it's high-flying self. Twice the Sounders were shutout when Oba wasn't fit and once it took a strong performance by Chad Barrett to notch two goals. With Oba the club scored 15 goals in 8 matches.
Colorado has one of the league's best defenses. Like Seattle, the Rapids only allowed nine goals so far this season. A fully powered Clint Dempsey-Obafemi Martins duo is vital to breaking through against the Western Conference foe that is better on the road than at home.
Unfortunately the news is not all positive. Gonzalo Pineda's ankle is acting up and he is now questionable. Expect Andy Rose to slot into the central midfield, though Roldan could earn his third start.
