Osvaldo Alonso reportedly out for weekend match with Sporting KC

Brad Evans will be with the United States National Team and Clint Dempsey's wife could deliver at any moment.

Sigi Schmid will get to test his depth during this weekend's road match against Sporting Kansas City. Seattle Sounders FC were already going to be without Brad Evans, as he's with the United States National Team for a couple friendlies. Clint Dempsey may miss a match coming up as his wife is due with their 4th child. The latest wrinkle is that Osvaldo Alonso will probably get hit with Disciplinary Committee action for his kickout in the win over Red Bull.

Update: Sounder at Heart has independent confirmation of Jata's report.

It's going to be another challenging depth match. Azira is the natural replacement for Alonso, but both Roldan and Rose have played well lately. Lamar Neagle's recent run on the bench will almost certainly be done, and he could be Dempsey's replacement, if necessary. Gonzalo Pineda may not yet be recovered from the ankle injury that's kept him out of the lineup.

Together, that could mean a 4-4-2 that plays like a 4-3-3 with three central midfielders in Azira, Roldan and Rose.

Of course, Zach Scott will start in place of Evans.

Sigi already has 17 players with a start in the young season. Each has at least 275 minutes. If the biggest question about the Sounders' chance for success in 2015 is depth, so far they are passing that test. Saturday's match will be another version of the depth quiz.
