After beating a lower division pro team and a USL team, both in 120 minutes of Open Cup action, the Seattle Sounders FC 2 will get their hardest test yet. Real Salt Lake has several players away on international duty or injured, so the weakened lineup does offer some hope for S2's roster and fans. Salt Lake will be without Schuler and Olave due to injury. Mansally, Vasquez, and Allen are away with their national teams.
RSL is 6-3-0 in Utah during the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, which is a sign of why homefield matters in this tournament. The SLC team has never won outside of their home state.
S2's lineup will be heavy on Academy players as only two of Seattle's MLS players are currently cap-tied (Lowe, Mansaray). They will need to count on the attacking prowess of Pablo Rossi and Andy Craven and a defense that has twice included HGP prospects Tosh Samkange (D) and Saif Kerawala (K).
The 7:00 PM match will be on YouTube.
