The United States won Group A prior to Monday's match against Panama. That meant Jurgen Klinsmann could test a few players. Zardes and Wondoloski started up top. Brooks and Alvarado paired at centerback. Over the first forty-five minutes the USA couldn't score and Brad Guzan was what it took to save the game. He held Panama to just one Blas Perez goal.
At half Clint Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin came on. The tenor of the American attack shifted. Possession got slightly better, which lessened the pressure on the CBs and Guzan. Michael Bradley scored the goal, but it came about from Clint Dempsey passing to Zardes to Dempsey to Bedoya to Bradley.

Today's results mean that Haiti take second in the Group. Panama can still qualify as one of the top two third place teams.
Up to six changes to the roster can be made now that the US part of the Gold Cup is entering the knockout stage. Since Clint Dempsey leads the Gold Cup in scoring, tied with Oribe Peralta at three, he is unlikely to come back. Seattle Sounders FC may be lucky enough to get Brad Evans back into their 18.
